Sanu’s Most
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Sanu located?
Sanu is located at the Watermark Hotel in Tysons, Virginia.
How long should I stay at Sanu?
Guests can stay at Sanu Postnatal Retreat up to 12 weeks post-childbirth. We recommend a stay of at least five (5) days to benefit from Sanu’s comprehensive range of services, including physical and mental health support, nourishment, and educational programs, however, guests can stay from 3 days to a full 12 weeks. The average length of stay is seven (7) days. For longer stays, please contact us at hello@sanupostpartum.com so we can help design a special program to fit your needs.
When is the best time to stay at Sanu?
We recommend going directly from the hospital to Sanu, but we understand that not all families may be able to do that. You may stay with us at any point during the first 12 weeks after delivery, but recommend staying within the first eight weeks and the earlier the better so we can provide you with care and support when you need it the most! Please contact our Reservations team at hello@sanupostpartum.com if you would like to stay beyond the 12-week mark.
When should I book my stay?
It’s essential to book your stay at Sanu well in advance to secure a spot that aligns with your due date and desired duration for your stay after giving birth. Early booking also allows you to take advantage of any special offers or promotions that may be available. While you are able to book anytime up to when you are 12 weeks postpartum, we recommend booking when you are pregnant so we can pre-reserve special services for you.
Whether you’re ready to book today or have additional questions, Sanu’s professional team is always ready to help you during the booking process, ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience.
What should I pack to bring with me for my stay?
A comprehensive list of recommended items will be sent to you after you book, but we recommend thinking about items such as breast pumps early on.
Can my partner stay overnight with me?
Partners are encouraged to stay overnight but can also stay for as long or as little as they need to during the day. Additionally, your customized care plan will be partner-inclusive!
What is your pet policy?
A fee of $125 will be applied to the room for each dog and/or cat pet accompanying guests. For longer stays, this fee will be assessed every seven days. An additional deep cleaning fee of $300 for cats will be applied per room, per stay. Guests must provide their own cat litter and cat litter boxes. For the safety and wellbeing of our care staff, guests must also agree to crate or temporarily keep pets in the bathroom during services and rounds as requested. Any other domestic pet will need to be reviewed by the hotel on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at hello@sanupostpartum.com for help with this.
Who are your caregivers?
All of our caregivers have at least a certified medical assistant, nursing assistant backgrounds, are sleep ambassador certified, and CPR certified.

Can my older children stay with me?
Absolutely! We understand the importance of family during this special time and aim to accommodate your needs as much as possible. We are happy to provide a roll-away bed to ensure everyone’s comfort. Please note that while we warmly welcome the presence of older siblings, our specialized care program does not specifically incorporate activities or provisions for other children, which might result in older children feeling bored or out of place during some of our activities. Please let us know during your intake process if any older children will be staying with you so we can make proper accommodations for them.
What if I deliver my baby earlier or later than my due date? Can I change my check-in and check-out date?
We are adopting a child. Are we eligible to stay?
Absolutely! We warmly welcome non-birthing parents at Sanu. Your customized care plan will take this into consideration so your stay fully prepares you for life as new parents!
How does payment for my stay work?
To begin the booking process, a deposit equal to one night’s stay is required. For stays longer than seven days, the remaining balance will be adjusted on your final invoice. Once availability is confirmed, we’ll send you an invoice for the full stay via email, along with a confirmation of your booking and additional details. Your stay is fully reserved once the entire invoice is paid.
